The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with China and one of the first countries to join the Belt and Road Initiative. China has remained Egypt's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years.
On September 3, Gehad, an Egyptian international student attending the Second Belt and Road Forum on People-to-People Connectivity, told reporters that in her view, Egypt and China are traditionally friendly countries, and their peoples share a bond of close friendship. She expressed her hope that economic and trade exchanges as well as people-to-people ties between the two countries will scale new heights. The Belt and Road Initiative, she noted, has enhanced dialogue and exchanges among young people across the world and brought hearts and minds closer together. “Many young people from other countries have been able to come to China to learn advanced knowledge, to better understand China, and to seize the valuable development opportunities that China offers to the world.” she said.
